I have always find myself constantly caught in the dilemma between friendships and the issue of personal integrity.

I really dislike the fact that may a times, we can only choose only one between the two-
Lose a friend, preserve your integrity.

Or, stop being a smart- arse about personal integrity, and keep that friend.
You must be wondering, ‘what has personal integrity has got to do with friendships?’

It’s a very sad and a harsh reality that as we all grow older and wiser, weather- friends (without the fore-word- 'fair') from childhood become more distant from you, as we head for our own individual destinies, our fated paths and roads. Friends you could joke around with no strings attached, the same friends that would kick you in the face with no qualms when you are acting foolishly, and the same ones that would standby you with no second thoughts nor a question, become farther, further from us.
Sometimes, they seem to almost completely disappear from our lives as things get busier and as we found things that seemed to be apparently much more important than them, things that apparently demand more attention than them.

We then try to seek for the same kind of weather friends as we go along our own paths, to look for such weather- friends on the same paths as us as substitutes for our real weather- friends. However, looking for weather- friends prove to be harder than imagined. Some are much more fortunate, they have their very own weather- friends with them throughout their lives and roads.

You no longer have friends who were once as innocent as you were, who promise to stand by you through thick and thin, through joy and weepy periods, instead, those friends you made along the way, sometimes proves to be much less sincere than you believed them to be, and in fact, much more distance than you actually realise- or chose to believe. Such ‘touch- and- go’ friends, are easy to find, however close you may be with them, they can’t, they are unable to make friends with you freely and with no expectations. i call such type of friends the ’superficial’- friends, or the fair- weather friends.

To me, ’superficial’ friends are those whom you never get to see what’s really beneath them and vice versa them to what’s really behind you. Conversations are sometimes somehow forced or flowered, or if needed, may even be peppered with untruths. Where many things are not discussed or best left unsaid.

I know these, because, i admit that i do belonged to the category of ’superficial’ - type of friends to some of my friends as well. It has been harder for me to make friends with anyone without withholding back, and without having certain expectations of them.

And when i myself belonged to the ’superficial’- type of friends to some of my friends as well, that’s when the issue of personal integrity comes in. Whether i am willing to succumb to their unlimited favours from him/her, and be able to bite back despondence of the fact that they call for you, only when they needed you. If i succumb, to a certain aspect, the issue of integrity comes in, the frequent over and over again confirmation that you are nothing more than just a convenience for them- they seldom call on you for else.

but it's only when you have 'superficial' friends,
would you discover your all- weather friends.

This post is dedicated to my wonderful weather friends i had since the early days of my high school years.

Thank you for always being there for me during the hardest times when i really needed you guys.

Thank you for being my weather- friends.

And for all this i am truly grateful..

We went to ACM for during our gems lesson. That was the best out of the whole module.

Lijun's Jakarta Trip

Jakarta Trip :)

Went to a semi-rural town in Jakarta in March.
It was an OITP trip.

:)

The trip was a fun and educational one.
Did eye screenings for the hundreds of locals. Which somehow polished my clinical skills.
Ride on speed boat for the first time in my life at a cost of 3000 rupiah.
Get to know more friends from other classes.
Realised that we are SoOo...fortunate when world class healthcare services are alwyas within our reach.
Experienced a life so different.
Etc..

Experienced blackout in the midst of bathing.
Car broke down for~3hrs on the first day in Jakarta!
Ate deep-fried chicken for almost 3 meals daily which made me feel so sick at the sight of chicken when i arrive back in S'pore.
Sleepless nights for the first 2 days.
Came back to Singapore with my luggage lock being cracked open.

Went out to do some shoppings today.

Along the way back home, came across two things.

...1...

There was one couple pushing a baby pram.

The male is about 1.55m, might be seriously underweight

and dressed too much to be causal.

The female, on the other hand was quite plump and wore heavy make ups.

But both are undoubtedly quite young.

I thought they were quite an "unmatched" couple.

However, after some thoughts, i told myself...

Perhaps they love each other for who they are.

Hmm...i was quite happy with my guessing.

When i walked past them, the plump lady told the skiny guy...

"No money, no talk! Wait till you get a job!".

A simple yet normal speech which left me totally speechless.

Well, is the world too realistic?

(I know it have being realistic, but never did i know its to such an extent!!!)

Is the economic crisis really affecting so many people?

(Cause it didnt affect my family and friends, so i thought the news were reporting it too big.)

Do they really love each other for whom they are?

(After their speech i thought maybe its for money, but after marriage, the lady regretted.)

Well, maybe you could think more about this issue.

Actually this thing happened long ago, and is still happening now.

Along the journey to CWP or back home,

there is always this long path that i have to stroll.

I called it the Long March.

And, everytime when i walk along this path,

l'll smile to myself.

Not that i'm crazy,

but i felt funny by the foolishiness of peoples' act.

Along the path,

there are lots of pillars.

On these pillars stick many small white papers...

Landlords renting out their houses,

renter wanting to share their rooms.

Once, i saw this lady trying to tear away the papers.

At first i thought she loved the environment,

so i continued looking at her.

To my dismay, she was actually removing the papers so that she could paste hers on the wall,

and at the same time,

remove her "compeititors".

Till that day onwards, i start to pay attention to this "intense competition" that was ongoing everyday.

I realise that some have actually make an attempt to use scotch tape to wrap their papers.

To prevent them from being tear away.

But, the funniest part came in...

I realise that some of the torn marks were straight!!!

That means...people bring SCISSORS to cut the scotch tapes!

OMG!

How clever...

So humans were born to come up with such ideas just to remove their opponents?

But have they thought, in the end, they are just wasting the papers,

destroying the environment.

I wonder how many will call them in favour of renting their house when the papers get torn away in just a day?

Gems Attack

It was 12:00 pm,

the time i should go online,

get into SAS and hav my Gems modules registered!

Well...i miss out a few seconds.

Finally, i got into the page directing me to my WANTED module,

seats all closed....

What a "GOOD" news!

Cant afford to hav your brains blank at this time,

i reminded myself.

As fast as i could,

get my fingers ready and type in another module code...

All SP students must have hated this greatly!

While my heart was still racing,

fingers shivering,

getting these thumbies alert,

i was redirected into another page.

One seat left.

Without caring much,

i clicked"register"

seconds ltr...

"Your registration is successful" appeared on screen.

So you think everything is over?

No! Not yet!

There's still another challenge.

My frens hav yet to register for their Gems.

Everyone was hoping mad to get into the same Gems class.

The feeling of loneliness will eat you alive if seated in a class of no one you know.

Be it fate or luck, just make my frens and i be in the same class!

Though hated this heart racing moment,
but we hav to experience this twice every year.
Maybe, this is the way to build a strong heart for all SPs.
A reminder for us to train our fingers!

If anyone know of a way to register to gems module at the quickest possible time...

let us know!

This is a story i came across, it sort of motivated me and (ha) ticks me!!
i want to share this story with u all!! Dedicated to all :D by the Foursome!!

There was a man once. This man was in his house and there was a bad flood, really bad. The river filled his first floor and a boat came by to rescue him but he said," No, go on, God will save me." He ran to the 2nd floor, but the water rose up there too. Another rescue boat came by but he said," No, go on, God will save me." Then the river kept rising and he climbed to the roof and a helicopter came by but he said,"No, go on, God will save me." And the helicopter flew away.

Then the water sweeps him off the roof and he drowns. Next thing he know,he is in heaven and he sees God and he says," God, why didnt u save me?" And God shakes his head and says, "Funny, i don't understand what went wrong. I sent u two boat and a helicopter."

Hahahahaa that the first reaction i had (chuckle*_*) but wait...... at further understanding....i realise that the moral is IF U DON'T WANT TO HELP YOURSELF THEN NOBODY CAN HELP U!!

I was in the library this afternoon.

Came across this book.

The author wrote many things on motivation.

I thought this was was quite true and funny,

Holiday mood

Its on holiday!

I guess everyone wud be dead happy yea?

This is however not the case for me...

I hate long hols...reason is simple... i got to hunt for jobs.

Started flipping newspaper,

going online to search for jobs,

sending out tones and tones of resumes...

and wait for their replies...which is usually a damn long wait.

Hated all these terribly.

If given a choice, i wud rather not hav any hols.

( But that does not mean i dislike weekends:)

Sometimes, i wonder...what took these agents so long to reply to us?

Maybe nxt tym if i get a chance to be one (agents)...then i know.
